This role is a full-time, onsite cook position located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, within the Summit brand's correctional facility kitchen division. The cook will work alongside a motivated, energetic kitchen team. The position demands working in a fast-paced, high-volume setting where quality and efficiency are paramount. As a cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality scratch-cooked meals, ensuring proper food handling and storage standards are met, and maintaining overall kitchen cleanliness and safety. The work environment calls for someone who can handle multiple tasks simultaneously while paying close attention to detail. Passion for culinary arts, adherence to food safety policies, and a customer service mindset are critical components of this role.

The compensation for this role is $18.00 per hour, making it a competitive hourly wage for culinary professionals in this sector. Summit, through Elior North America, offers an extensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance for full-time employees, voluntary insurance options such as accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity plans, employee assistance programs, commuter benefits, paid time off, holiday pay, tuition reimbursement, and a 401(k) plan. These benefits emphasize the company's commitment to employee well-being and professional development.

Candidates with at least one year of culinary experience in a high-volume, quality-driven environment are preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience with scratch cooking, knowledge of culinary methods and standards, and the ability to perform multiple duties in a fast-paced setting. Familiarity with kitchen equipment and a strong customer service orientation are essential. Having food handler’s certification is a plus but not mandatory.

This role not only supports the operational needs of the kitchen but also contributes to the broader mission of providing essential nutrition and humane treatment within correctional facilities. Working at Summit means being part of an organization that values your personal growth, culinary skills, and contribution to a meaningful cause.
