Summit operates in partnership with Elior North America, a leading contract food service company that values diversity, employee growth, and career advancement. Elior North America is committed to equal opportunity employment and fosters an inclusive environment that welcomes applicants from different backgrounds and abilities. The company supports employees with comprehensive training and skills development programs designed to help them advance their careers whether in their current roles or within other areas of the company.

The role of Cook at Summit’s Las Cruces, New Mexico location offers a full-time onsite position within the correctional segment. The cook will be working alongside a motivated and energetic kitchen team dedicated to preparing meals in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. The cooking professional here plays a crucial role in ensuring that every meal served is not only delicious but also nutritionally balanced and presented creatively. This position demands a meticulous approach to food quality, portion control, and adherence to food safety standards. The successful candidate will have experience in scratch cooking and be adept at managing multiple tasks efficiently without compromising quality or consistency.

As a cook at Summit, you are not merely preparing food; you will be contributing to a vital service that supports social interaction during meal times for inmates, helping to improve their daily experience. The role involves using various kitchen tools and equipment safely and effectively and following prescribed recipes and food handling policies. Customer service experience is important, highlighting the company’s broader commitment to quality and respect for those served, even in a correctional setting.

Compensation for this role is competitive at $19.00 per hour, reflecting the specialized nature of the work and the responsibilities involved. Summit offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, voluntary accident and critical illness insurance, discount programs, commuter benefits, employee assistance programs, 401k retirement plans, sick leave, holiday pay, tuition reimbursement, and paid time off. This package underlines the organization's commitment to supporting the well-being and growth of its employees.

This position is ideal for cooks who thrive in dynamic, challenging environments and who are passionate about preparing food with care and creativity. Summit and Elior North America encourage candidates who are motivated to advance professionally and who value working in a supportive and inclusive workplace to apply. The job description may be revised by management as needed, reflecting the dynamic nature of the food service industry and Summit’s dedication to maintaining operational excellence and compliance with regulatory standards.
