Bright Horizons at Moffitt Child Development Center is currently seeking a dedicated Cook to join their team. The position is full-time, with working hours from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, including a 30-minute lunch break daily. The compensation for this role ranges between $15.00 and $17.00 per hour, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package. As a Cook at Bright Horizons, your primary responsibility will be to plan and prepare balanced meals and snacks that adhere to approved menus and nutritional guidelines, considering daily attendance and specific dietary needs. The role is essential in creating a predictable and comforting routine for children, educators, and staff by delivering meals that are not only nourishing but also enjoyable. Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment is imperative, as is adhering to strict food safety, allergy management, sanitation, and health procedures.
In addition to food preparation, this role requires managing inventory and placing orders with approved vendors to ensure a consistent supply of ingredients and kitchen necessities. Collaboration with center staff is crucial to facilitate smooth daily meal service, emphasizing teamwork and communication. The position involves physical demands such as lifting food and supplies, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive kitchen tasks, all while maintaining mental alertness to respond promptly to emergencies or unexpected situations.

Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED
- Food handler certification required within 30 days of hire
- Must pass required state and company background checks and meet state and company minimum education and experience requirements
- Ability to lift and carry food and supplies typically 10 to 40 pounds occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods bend reach push carts and perform repetitive kitchen and cleaning tasks
- Must maintain mental and physical alertness to respond immediately and appropriately to unexpected situations or emergencies
Job Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED
- Food handler certification required within 30 days of hire
- Course work or certification in nutrition preferred
- Food service experience in childcare center school cafeteria commercial kitchen or high-volume food service setting preferred
- Must pass required state and company background checks
Job Duties
- Plan and prepare balanced family-style meals and snacks following approved menus nutritional guidelines and daily attendance counts
- Maintain a clean safe and organized kitchen by following food safety allergy-management sanitation and health procedures
- Manage food and supply inventory place orders through approved vendors and partner with center staff to support smooth daily meal service
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal state and local health and safety regulations
- Communicate effectively with team members and center staff to coordinate meal service
- Monitor and accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment and workspace
