The role of the Cook is pivotal in ensuring that all meals served meet the restaurant's standards of excellence. This is a hands-on position where the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, or directing the preparation of, food items according to established recipes and dietary requirements. The Cook will work closely with kitchen management and other staff to maintain a smooth and efficient operation, ensuring that food quality, temperature, and presentation are kept at their highest levels.

A key responsibility is to follow strict food production programs and procedures that align with our restaurant’s standards. Additionally, the Cook will be responsible for the correct storage, handling, and labeling of food items to maintain freshness and prevent waste. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all food preparation areas is essential for compliance with health regulations and to provide a safe workplace.

The successful Cook must be flexible to work across several kitchen functional stations, including fry, grill, sauté, and steak preparation. This cross-training allows for operational flexibility and helps maintain orderly kitchen service during peak times. The role demands the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, requiring standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting for the entire shift. Physical endurance is critical as the job involves moving heavy objects, sometimes weighing up to 60 pounds, for the majority of the shift.

This position requires a candidate who is not only skilled in food preparation but also committed to operational excellence, perfect execution, and exceptional customer service. The Cook must communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, and must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening. Schedules for this role may vary and include night shifts, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the dynamic nature of restaurant operations.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in food preparation or cooking preferred
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Capable of lifting up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English
  • Must pass pre-employment background check
  • Must pass drug screening
  • Availability to work varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Good hygiene and sanitation practices.

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cooking experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare or direct preparation of food served using established production procedures and systems
  • Correctly prepare all food served following standard recipes and special diet orders
  • Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours ensuring food quality, temperature and appearance
  • Portion and plate food for serving
  • Follow proper food preparation and handling techniques
  • Store food properly and safely, marking date and item
  • Maintain daily production records
  • Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene and health standards
  • Report necessary equipment repairs and maintenance to supervisor
  • Keep work area neat and clean at all times
  • Clean and maintain equipment used in food preparation
  • Work multiple functional kitchen areas including fry, grill, sauté and steak stations
  • Operate in a fast-paced, high-energy, physically demanding environment
  • Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines.
