The Cook CD - Skilled role at HMSHost is a vital position responsible for preparing cooked foods in a fast-paced, high-volume setting such as airport or highway dining locations. This non-exempt position demands proficiency in multiple kitchen stations including Fry, Flat Top Griddle, Pantry, and Egg cooking. The cook must follow standardized recipes and product directions to prepare, season, cook, and taste a range of dishes including soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts. Attention to detail, accuracy in food preparation, and the ability to maintain strict food safety and sanitation practices in line with HACCP standards are essential to the role. The cook is also expected to communicate effectively with management and serving staff to ensure timely ticket completion and address potential kitchen issues. Daily responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing workstations and equipment, measuring and mixing ingredients, and maintaining inventory by stocking, dating, rotating, and checking the temperature of kitchen products.

Ideal candidates possess at least 3 years of experience in a closely related cooking role within high-volume or fast casual dining environments. They are knowledgeable about sauces, soups, saute, broiler, fry, and pantry cooking techniques and demonstrate the physical ability to withstand the demands of a busy kitchen, including standing for long periods, lifting up to 40 pounds, and frequently working with hot surfaces and sharp utensils. Leadership experience is a plus, as the position may require supervising or leading others. Job Duties

  • follow recipes and product directions for preparing seasoning cooking tasting carving and serving food items which may include soups meats vegetables desserts and other food and beverage products
  • taste products follow menus estimate food requirements check production and keep records in order to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment as needed
  • clean and sanitize work stations and equipment
  • practice excellent food safety and sanitation practices and comply with HACCP standards
  • operate a variety of kitchen equipment
  • measure and mix ingredients wash peel cut and shred fruits and vegetables
  • stock date rotate and check temperature of products
