Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year of cooking experience in a related environment
- Knowledge of food safety standards including HACCP
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds
- Ability to bend, twist and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable working in hot environments
- Ability to handle sharp knives and hot equipment safely
- Effective communication skills
Job Qualifications
- Food preparation skills and knowledge of HACCP standards
- One year of closely related cooking experience, preferably in high volume or fast casual dining restaurant environment
- Knowledge of soups, sauté, broiler, fry and pantry cooking
- Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents
- Ability to converse comfortably with individuals
Job Duties
- Follows recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving food items including soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other food and beverage products
- Tastes products, follows menus, estimates food requirements, checks production and keeps records to plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment as needed
- Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment
- Practices excellent food safety and sanitation practices complying with HACCP standards
- Operates a variety of kitchen equipment, measures and mixes ingredients, washes, peels, cuts and shreds fruits and vegetables
- Stocks, dates, rotates and checks temperature of product
- Performs other duties as assigned
