Job Duties
- Make and serve nutritious meals for residents in a safe and healthful manner
- Ensure compliance with portioning, plate presentation and quality guidelines on the service line
- Determine time and sequence of cooking operations to meet meal serving deadlines such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, and satellite meals
- Perform batch cooking, avoiding cooking product for entire day service at once
- Prepare and submit food and paper orders according to menu and production logs
- Conduct temperature checks during meal period to ensure food is served hot and log results
- Follow assigned break schedules
- Adhere to sanitation requirements according to state, federal, or local safe food handling regulations and manager instructions
- Assist in implementation and follow-up of sanitation cleaning schedules for kitchen areas and equipment
- Prepare and update production records and temperature logs
- Comply with mandated food handling certification requirements
- Attend weekly kitchen meetings
- Maintain a sanitary and attractive work area, cleaning as you go
- Stock sufficient supplies at your station to last the entire day
- Ensure menu signage is neat, clean, colorful, and complete
- Set up attractive display plates for each menu daily
- Follow all Whitsons policies and procedures at all times
