Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- one year of experience in institutional cooking
- physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- ability to read, write, understand, and speak English
- ability to follow food safety and hygiene standards
- willingness to obtain food handler's license if not already possessed
- ability to work in kitchen and occasionally in classrooms
- basic computer skills for documentation
Job Qualifications
- possess a food handler's license or willingness to obtain
- basic math skills for measuring and calculating serving portions
- at least one year of institutional cooking experience
- familiarity with food storage and allergy considerations
- ability to follow nutritious menus and prepare sufficient quantities of food
- two or more years working with children highly desirable
- basic computer proficiency
- strong communication skills in English
Job Duties
- prepare healthy and tasty meals and snacks for children according to menu and recipes
- maintain kitchen and related equipment safely and hygienically
- order food and supplies for the center
- dispense and store medication as requested
- complete timely and accurate documentation according to licensing and regulation requirements
- help with other daily center duties as needed
- support center success by partnering with center staff and leadership to achieve enrollment, accreditation, and engagement goals
