Job Requirements

  • Education at a level sufficient to perform food service duties
  • Prior experience with food preparation preferred
  • Ability to understand and follow written instructions and standardized recipes
  • Ability to maintain sanitation standards
  • Physical ability to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • U.S. citizenship or allegiance to the United States
  • Compliance with Selective Service registration if applicable
  • Willingness to undergo background checks including National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI)
  • Adherence to drug-free workplace policies
  • Ability to work part-time hours as designated
  • Ability to utilize direct deposit for paychecks

Job Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the methods and procedures relating to food preparation in small quantities
  • Skill to apply food preparation information to cook a limited variety of prepared foods
  • Ability to read and understand written food service materials such as food labels and standardized recipes
  • Ability to calculate servings
  • Knowledge of food characteristics like color, flavor, consistency, texture, temperature, and cooking times
  • Skill in planning, coordinating, and timing sequence of cooking steps to have all menu items ready simultaneously
  • Knowledge of sanitation principles
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds

Job Duties

  • Perform a full range of simple cooking tasks by preparing and cooking items requiring little or no processing such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and fresh or canned vegetables
  • Prepare all forms of hot cereals
  • Broil meats
  • Prepare and cook concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces, and gravies
  • Make cold sandwich fillings
  • Perform other related duties as required
