Job Requirements

  • Completion of high school or equivalent
  • No specific experience required for Cook 5 level
  • One year experience in quantity cooking for Cook E6 level
  • Two years experience in quantity cooking including one year as Cook E6 for Cook 7 level
  • Must pass background screening including felony conviction check
  • Willingness to comply with ethical standards and report conflicts of interest
  • Ability to complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET)

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in quantity cooking and food preparation
  • One year of experience for Cook E6 level
  • Two years of experience for Cook 7 level, including one year equivalent to Cook E6
  • Ability to follow established cooking procedures
  • Leadership skills for Cook 7 level

Job Duties

  • Perform cooking and food preparation tasks under supervision
  • Use independent judgment in cooking tasks following established procedures
  • Oversee work of lower-level cooks and kitchen helpers
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are maintained
  • Manage food portion control and inventory
  • Assist in menu planning and recipe execution
  • Train and support new kitchen staff and prisoner workers
