Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • no specific experience required for Cook 5
  • one year of experience in quantity cooking and food preparation for Cook E6
  • two years of experience in quantity cooking and food preparation including one year at Cook E6 level for Cook 7
  • ability to pass background check and meet ethical standards
  • no felony convictions or satisfactorily completed sentences if applicable
  • submit official transcripts for education verification
  • provide at least three professional references

Job Qualifications

  • two years of experience in quantity cooking and food preparation including one year at Cook E6 level for Cook 7
  • ability to work under supervision and independently

Job Duties

  • perform cooking and food preparation tasks for residents of state facilities
  • receive on-the-job training and practice skills for Cook 5 level
  • independently perform full range of cooking and food preparation assignments for Cook E6 level
  • follow specific instructions and established procedures for cooking tasks
  • oversee work of lower-level cooks, kitchen helpers, and prisoner workers as a Cook 7
  • maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • contribute to meal planning and quality assurance
