The part-time Cook position at 46 Below Cafe provides an opportunity for culinary enthusiasts to join a vibrant team dedicated to quality and service. This role involves preparing food according to established portion sizes, quality standards, and food safety regulations to ensure guest satisfaction. The Cook works closely with the serving team to coordinate orders and maintain kitchen efficiency. Key responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and organization of the workstation, coolers, and equipment, managing food storage to preserve freshness, and assisting with inventory and waste control processes. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
  • Ability to reach up to seven feet
  • Ability to bend and squat
  • Ability to stand and walk for the entire length of shift in moderate to high noise levels
  • Manual ability to chop, mix, blend, whip a variety of foods and operate kitchen equipment
  • Ability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, holidays, events, and overtime as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months to 1-year previous experience in back-of-the-house food service position preferred
  • Ability to read and understand recipes and food abbreviations
  • Familiarity and experience with knife handling preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Attentive and detail oriented
  • Capable of following procedures and taking directions
  • Basic math skills to understand and calculate recipe measurements and proportions

Job Duties

  • Prepare food to comply with all portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure proper food temperatures are maintained
  • Store food correctly to maintain freshness
  • Package all products to proper specifications
  • Keep workstation, coolers, and equipment clean, organized, sanitized, and sufficiently stocked
  • Use waste control guidelines and record all waste on spoilage sheet
  • Perform opening, closing, and side work duties and end-of-day inventory
