Job Requirements

  • Possess a valid Food Handlers Card or SafeServe Certification prior to employment
  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic food science and safe food handling practices
  • Ability to read write and follow instructions accurately
  • Ability to operate and clean food service equipment
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to multitask with minimal supervision and take initiative
  • Availability to work flexible hours including early mornings evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic food science including ingredients measurement food preparation and serving standards
  • Ability to read write and follow instructions
  • Ability to disassemble assemble operate and clean food service equipment
  • Valid Food Handlers Card or SafeServe Certification prior to start date
  • High school education or equivalent preferred or equivalent combination of skills knowledge and experience
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Preferred skill in using computer systems and software including Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision and take initiative in urgent matters

Job Duties

  • Prepares food items as posted on weekly menu for special functions or resident and staff needs
  • Observes all health department and facility policies regarding safe food cooking handling storing identification and serving standards
  • Ensures department sanitation and health standards are exceeded maintains compliance with hazard analysis critical control point principles
  • Prepares and replenishes food on serving lines stocks utensils disposables and condiments ensures meals are prepared and served according to recipe and are appealing
  • Plans production to minimize overages and shortages makes efficient use of leftovers orders and inventories items accurately notifies designee of shortages or substitutions
  • Fosters effective communication consistent with therapeutic goals and staff coordination
  • Serves as a role model promoting socially effective values attitudes behaviors and service excellence
