Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • 6 months to 1 year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and perform basic math operations using American money and measurement units
  • Food handler's permit as required by applicable state
  • Must obtain all local, state, and federal food safety certifications including Serv Safe within one year of hire
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, taste, smell, and lift or move items up to 50 pounds regularly

Job Duties

  • Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes or instructions efficiently to meet production, delivery and service schedule
  • Read, understand and follow standardized recipes and production sheets
  • Use production worksheets to produce forecasted amounts, take and record food temperatures, and document amounts prepared and leftovers
  • Check deliveries of food and supplies, notify executive or sous chef of needed items, and secure and rotate stock properly
  • Serve meals or prepare for delivery, using correct portioning, meeting standards, ensuring food is at correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
  • Comply with all standards and policies, report discrepancies to sous chef or executive chef
  • Properly cover, date, and store all food items, discard food older than 72 hours daily
  • Attend in-service and safety meetings as required
  • Obtain food supplies from storeroom or refrigerators and support organization of storage areas
  • Use established ticket collection procedures and keep records during dining service
  • Contribute creative input towards daily specials and special events
  • Maintain a sanitary work area and food processing equipment
  • Use kitchen equipment safely and help train others
  • Perform job analysis and daily cleaning tasks
  • Assist in special banquets and functions as assigned
