Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years prior food prep experience in a high-volume, fine dining kitchen
  • Culinary degree or relevant training preferred
  • Valid Food Handlers Card or Serv Safe certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Ability to read and follow recipes and instructions
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including holidays and weekends
  • Strong knife and food preparation skills

Job Qualifications

  • Two years prior food prep experience in a high-volume, fine dining kitchen
  • Culinary degree or training desired or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Complete knowledge of food preparation, professional cooking and knife handling skills
  • Ability to perform basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, recipes, BEOs, and correspondence
  • Completes required training as scheduled
  • Work schedules will include holidays, weekends and alternate shifts
  • Must have a valid/current Food Handlers Card/Serv Safe or willingness and ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
  • Must know and adhere to all applicable health standards
  • Must maintain a clean appearance and professional demeanor and wear designated uniform/attire
  • Shift times are subject to change based on Department's needs
  • Must provide flexible availability

Job Duties

  • Prepares dressings, cold sauces, condiments, fruit/vegetable trays, cheese/meat platters, appetizers, canapes, cold hors d'oeuvres, salads, and other items according to company recipes and guidelines
  • Reads and follows menu, recipe, or BEO to estimate food requirements and requisitions food from storage
  • Slices or carves meats, cheese, poultry used for cold food preparation
  • Assists with portioning food onto serving plates, adds gravies and sauces and garnishes servings
  • Follows all standard food handling, sanitation and health department guidelines
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures
  • Reports to work as scheduled (on time and on regular basis)
  • Washes, peels, cuts and shreds vegetables and fruits for preparation
  • Assists in controlling food products, leftovers, waste and refrigeration organization
  • Maintains equipment and work area in clean and organized manner
  • Notifies management of unsafe conditions, equipment maintenance needs and any accidents
