Job Requirements

  • one to five years of prior cooking experience in hotel kitchen or related field depending on role
  • ability to stand for long periods without sitting or leaning
  • ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
  • ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with body and arms
  • ability to work under variable temperature and noise levels
  • near vision to see details at close range
  • ability to move quickly and agilely for urgent tasks
  • ability to work long hours
  • must possess good communication skills and understand English
  • must follow safety and security policies

Job Qualifications

  • culinary training in a college setting preferred
  • prior cooking experience in a hotel kitchen or related field preferred
  • experience in banquet, fine dining, or line cooking required for certain roles
  • ability to use kitchen equipment efficiently and safely
  • good communication skills and ability to convey and understand information in English
  • ability to work well in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment

Job Duties

  • prepare high quality food items for restaurant and banquet guests based on established guidelines
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of work area following sanitation and safe food handling procedures
  • work as a team to ensure timely and accurate preparation of food orders
  • assist or train kitchen staff as needed especially if lead cook
  • ensure compliance with safety and security policies in the kitchen
  • prepare cold food items such as salads, cold appetizers, desserts, and sandwiches if pantry/prep cook
  • provide breakfast meal preparation ensuring quality and timely delivery if breakfast cook
