The role being offered is a full-time permanent Cook 2 position within the Food & Beverage - Culinary department of Rosewood Sand Hill. This position is fundamental to the hotel's kitchen operations and involves planning, prepping, setting up, and providing high-quality service in all areas of hot food production. This encompasses preparation of hot menu items, garde manger, hot appetizers, entrees, side dishes, sauces, stocks, and hot sandwiches, all in alignment with departmental standards and plating guide specifications. The role demands meticulous attention to detail to maintain the organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of work areas and equipment. The Cook 2 will work closely with the Kitchen Supervisor to review daily assignments, business levels, and ensure communication flows efficiently within the kitchen team. Responsibilities include fulfilling opening and closing duties, maintaining proper storage procedures in compliance with health department regulations, minimizing waste to meet forecasted food costs, and assisting in efficient clean-up processes. This position requires hands-on engagement throughout the shift involving selecting, cleaning, and preparing meats, seafood, and vegetables; operating kitchen equipment safely and properly; managing production schedules; and promptly addressing any shortages or assistance needs. Maintaining a friendly and courteous demeanor when interacting with guests and fellow employees is emphasized as part of the company's commitment to excellent service.
This position not only requires culinary expertise but also strong organizational, technical, and communication skills. The successful candidate will bring at least two years of experience as a Cook 2 or similar role in a 4 or 5-star hotel or restaurant, preferably with culinary certification. The candidate must be physically capable of performing demanding kitchen tasks in various conditions and able to work efficiently under pressure to meet production schedules. Proficiency in English is required, with fluency in additional languages seen as a plus. The pay scale ranges from $28.35 to $31.50 per hour, reflecting factors such as experience and the level of luxury or fine dining experience. Rosewood Sand Hill promotes equal employment opportunities and a harassment-free workplace, welcoming applicants from diverse backgrounds to join their distinguished team.
