This beloved local eatery is committed to delivering what local food should truly taste like: delicious, lovingly prepared dishes made from scratch and served by friendly staff who are part of the neighborhood. Jazzy Ladies Cafe is a go-to spot for breakfast and lunch, known for its fresh-brewed coffee and warm, inviting atmosphere where customers can enjoy pleasant conversations with friends and family. The current opening is for a full-time Cook 2 position, a pivotal role within the kitchen team that demands energy, precision, and a passion for quality. This cook position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where teamwork and communication are key to maintaining kitchen flow. The Cook 2 role is integral to the daily food service, tasked with setting up and breaking down the kitchen, keeping storage areas such as the walk-in refrigerator orderly, and taking point on line items during service. This job requires a dedicated individual who can maintain high standards for the appearance and quality of every plate that leaves the kitchen.

As a Cook 2 at Jazzy Ladies Cafe, you will be cross-trained to support both brunch and dinner services, further enhancing versatility and team cohesion. The role emphasizes not only culinary skills but also operational excellence—ensuring all food items are properly prepared, stored, and executed to the highest company standards. Positive attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen leads and chefs are essential qualities sought for this position.

This cook role includes responsibilities such as filling out daily opening and closing checklists, organizing storage and incoming orders, assisting in training new line cooks, and keeping the kitchen clean and visually presentable throughout the day. The Cook 2 will also monitor stock levels, participate in minimizing food waste by supporting special menu planning, and consistently uphold food safety and sanitation regulations. Communication is crucial in this role, especially in partnering with the Cook Lead and Prep Lead to ensure smooth operations and a respectful, safe working environment. Reliable transportation is necessary, and candidates should have a minimum of four years of cook experience, preferably in an upscale dining setting.

The position values individuals with strong organizational capabilities, sturdy physical stamina (including the ability to lift up to 65 pounds and stand for extended periods), and excellent cooking and knife skills. Compliance with food handler regulations and possession of a food handler's card are mandatory; ServSafe certification is strongly encouraged but not strictly required. Job Duties

  • Arrive at work ready to work by time of shift start
  • fill out and perform daily kitchen opening duties checklist, when applicable
  • ensure all items in walk-in/reach-in are stored and labeled properly
  • assist putting away and organize incoming orders
  • maintain organization of storage in walk-in
  • assist Cook Lead in any requested tasks
  • assist Cook Lead in training new line cooks
  • ensure plate integrity is being upheld for every single dish
  • ensure appearance and performance meets standards
  • ensure kitchen is visually presentable throughout the day
  • assist in kitchen team's adherence to sanitation & food safety regulations
  • maintain a safe and respectful work environment
  • communicate low stock alerts to prep lead and cook lead
  • work with cook lead on daily/weekly specials to minimize food waste
