The role of Cook plays a critical part in our daily operations and overall success. This is a nonexempt position reporting directly to the Manager on Duty (MOD). The Cook is responsible for cooking, preparing, and packaging a wide variety of food products in line with operational and quality standards. This position requires a motivated individual with a strong work ethic who can maintain consistent food quality while working efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Cook will be operating various kitchen stations such as dresser, front swamp, back swamp, grill, and food prep stations as assigned. Attention to detail, cleanliness, and adherence to safety standards are essential in this role.

In addition to cooking, the Cook must perform regular cleaning and sanitation duties, including trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes and food preparation tools, wiping counters, sanitizing food preparation areas, cleaning equipment, and emptying used grease. This ensures compliance with both company policies and food safety regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, be capable of multi-tasking, and follow directions accurately. The position may require working irregular hours which include night shifts, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the restaurant's operational needs.

This role also involves physically demanding tasks such as moving and stocking food products up to 50 pounds, and occasional exposure to varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, and hot liquids common in the kitchen setting. Regular attendance and reliability are crucial. Additionally, the Cook may be called upon to report any customer or employee complaints or issues directly to the MOD, ensuring smooth communication within the team and the maintenance of a positive working environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 6 months to 1 year of relevant cooking or food preparation experience preferred
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, move, stoop, stretch, and lift regularly during shifts
  • Capability to handle physical tasks including moving and stocking food products up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
