Job Description

The Spine Hospital of Louisiana is a dedicated healthcare facility specializing in spine care and related medical treatments. The hospital is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join their team in preparing nutritious, appealing, and safely cooked meals. This role is essential in contributing to the overall patient experience by providing meals that meet standardized recipes and production schedules, ensuring food quality, portion control, and attractive presentation. The chosen candidate will be involved in daily kitchen operations including food preparation, cooking, maintaining sanitation standards, and supporting special events and catering functions within the hospital environment. This position demands a passion for food safety, a dedication to service excellence, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced healthcare setting. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • one or more years of cooking experience in a restaurant, healthcare, cafeteria, or institutional setting preferred
  • knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food handling practices
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • strong organizational and time-management skills
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and production schedules
  • ensure food quality, portion control, and presentation standards are met
  • monitor and document food temperatures to ensure compliance with food safety standards
  • complete production records, temperature logs, and waste logs
  • assist with receiving, inspecting, and storing food and supplies
  • maintain proper food rotation and storage procedures
  • clean and sanitize food preparation areas and equipment
  • report equipment issues, safety concerns, and supply needs to management
  • follow all federal, state, local, and hospital food safety regulations
  • assist with special events, catering functions, and departmental projects as needed
