The Cleveland Clinic Children''s Hospital for Rehabilitation focuses on providing specialized rehabilitation services to pediatric patients, helping them recover and improve their quality of life through compassionate and innovative care. As a leader in healthcare, the Cleveland Clinic upholds a culture of support, appreciation, and professional growth for its caregivers. Employees at this establishment can expect to be part of a collaborative team dedicated to excellence and patient well-being.
The role of the Cook at Children''s Hospital for Rehabilitation is essential in supporting the retail food service operations. This position primarily involves serving as the grill cook during breakfast and lunch hours. The Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of short-order items such as burgers and quesadillas, including setting up and prepping both hot and cold breakfast stations to ensure timely and quality food service. The position is designed for individuals who may have limited prior cooking experience, as it does not require complex recipe preparation but does benefit from some kitchen background.
During weekends and holidays, the Cook’s responsibilities extend to assisting with patient food service. This includes preparing and delivering meal trays to nursing units and interacting directly with patients to gather their meal selections using iPads. This role requires a flexible schedule, with work hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including weekend and holiday rotations. The Cook collaborates closely with supervisors and dietitians to plan cooking schedules, review menus and special orders, follow standardized recipes, and ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards such as HACCP. Additionally, the Cook must obtain ServSafe certification within six months of their hire date.
This opportunity at Cleveland Clinic is ideal for caregivers who are passionate about food service in a healthcare setting and want to contribute to patient recovery through nutrition and meal service. The position fosters a rewarding career path within one of the most respected healthcare organizations globally, emphasizing professional development, adherence to safety standards, and patient interaction. The Cook role not only supports the daily meal preparations but also plays a vital part in maintaining the hospital’s reputation for quality and care in all aspects of its services.
