We are currently seeking a skilled Food Production Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. This role is instrumental in managing the preparation and production of food items according to established recipes and production sheets. The Food Production Cook will be responsible for measuring, mixing, and cooking ingredients to create soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casseroles. The position demands a keen eye for quality, efficient time management, and the ability to operate various kitchen equipment such as blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, and tenderizers.
The successful candidate will have experience in baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming different types of food including meats, fish, and vegetables. Duties also include carving and slicing meats and cheese, garnishing and displaying food items according to set standards, and ensuring proper storage and rotation of inventory to maintain freshness. This role requires monitoring food temperatures and adhering strictly to food safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure safe handling.
Moreover, the Food Production Cook should be knowledgeable about and capable of accommodating diet restrictions, adapting recipes as necessary to meet such requirements. They are expected to maintain production records, portion control, and promote waste reduction to support cost management efforts. Job Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent knowledge
- Minimum 3 years of experience in food production in a hotel, restaurant or institutional environment
- ServSafe Food Handler certification issued by the National Restaurant Association to be obtained within 1 year
- Ability to measure and scale amounts of ingredients used in a recipe
- Knowledge of safe food handling, storage and sanitation practices
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers and tenderizers
- Physical capability to stand, walk, reach, bend, squat, kneel and lift weights up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to work in an environment with food odors, dust, mechanical, electrical and chemical hazards
- Ability to follow department standards and procedures
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Reviews production sheets and recipes to ensure quality and quantity needed for items to prepare
- Prepares food on daily production report according to established guidelines
- Maintains time and production records
- Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipe
- Uses a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers and tenderizers to prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces and casseroles
- Bakes, roasts, broils and steams meat, fish, vegetables and other foods per recipes
- Carves and slices meats and cheese
- Garnishes, displays and serves food items according to standards and recipes
- Ensures proper storage and rotation of inventories in refrigerators and freezers
- Monitors food temperatures and utilizes established procedures to ensure safe food handling techniques and prevent bacteria contamination
- Follows department standards for safe food handling, storage and sanitation
- Maintain temperature logs for production areas per department standards
- Monitors accurate portioning and promotes food waste control
- Prepares in small batches to help control waste/cost
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
