Job Description
This company is a well-established restaurant known for its commitment to high-quality food preparation and excellent customer service. With a focus on operational excellence and maintaining strict quality standards, the restaurant has built a reputation for delivering great dining experiences in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The company values its team members and encourages a collaborative work culture where employees can grow and develop their culinary and service skills.
The Cook position is a critical role within the restaurant's kitchen team, reporting directly to the Manager on Duty (MOD). This is a nonexempt role, meaning that it is an hourly position with eligibility for overtime as required. The primary responsibility of the cook is to prepare, cook, and package food products following all operational and quality standards of the restaurant. This role involves working various kitchen stations including dresser, front swamp, back swamp, grill, and food prep areas.
The position is designed for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen environment and have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all food items are prepared correctly and meet health and safety regulations. The cook must adhere strictly to company policies, procedures, and operational standards to maintain the restaurant’s reputation for cleanliness, quality, and efficiency.
In addition to food preparation, this role requires regular cleaning and sanitation of kitchen areas, equipment, and tools to uphold a hygienic workspace. Tasks include trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes and food preparation tools, wiping counters, sanitizing workspaces, cleaning equipment, and handling grease disposal. Regular attendance and reliability are essential due to the nature of food service operations.
The work environment is physically demanding and requires continuous standing, bending, reaching, moving, stooping, stretching, and lifting while operating in a busy restaurant setting. Employees in this role will frequently be exposed to heat and hot liquids used in cooking, as well as cold environments when stocking freezer items. The role also involves irregular work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet the restaurant’s operational needs.
Additional duties of the cook include reporting any customer or employee complaints or issues to the Manager on Duty, assisting with moving and stocking food products which may weigh up to 50 pounds, and performing any other job-related duties as assigned. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their duties and is eager to contribute to a team-oriented work environment.
Overall, this cook position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to build a career in food service and hospitality. The restaurant prioritizes employee development, operational excellence, and quality service. Candidates who are committed, hardworking, and have a passion for cooking will find this role rewarding and professionally fulfilling.
