Job Description

Sheraton New Orleans Hotel, located at 500 Canal St, New Orleans, Louisiana, offers a distinguished hospitality experience as part of Marriott International’s prestigious portfolio. Established as a landmark venue in New Orleans, the Sheraton hotel combines Southern charm with world-class amenities to deliver exceptional service and memorable stays for travelers from around the globe. The hotel is renowned for its elegant accommodations, vibrant event spaces, and diverse culinary offerings that reflect the rich cultural heritage of New Orleans. As a full-service hotel operating in a bustling, vibrant city, Sheraton New Orleans embraces diversity, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence, creating a warm and inclusive environment for both guests and employees.

This position is for a Culinary Associate in the Food and Beverage & Culinary category, working full-time in a non-management role with a pay rate of $18.00 per hour. The role is designed for those passionate about the culinary arts, offering a unique opportunity to grow and refine their skills in a supportive and dynamic environment. Working closely with a dedicated team of culinary professionals, the Culinary Associate will engage in preparing and cooking high-quality food items that meet Sheraton's superior standards. This role emphasizes creativity, attention to detail, and the drive for excellence, essential qualities for delivering outstanding culinary experiences that delight guests.

The Culinary Associate will have access to online culinary training through a partnership with Rouxbe Cooking School, allowing continuous professional development across all levels of experience. This training supports career growth, helping associates learn new techniques and enhance their skills, translating directly into the quality of food preparation and presentation. The role involves preparing fresh ingredients, cooking menu items to exact specifications, and ensuring food safety and cleanliness standards. Candidates will work with seasonal menus and innovative presentations, contributing to an engaging dining experience that encourages guests to return.

In addition to technical culinary duties, associates will enjoy numerous benefits, including employee discounts on hotel rooms, gift shop merchandise, food and beverage, as well as access to wellness programs, recognition programs, and opportunities for learning and development. Sheraton fosters a motivating environment with a collaborative team spirit, promoting positive attitudes and personal growth.

The ideal candidate will possess strong teamwork skills, a keen eye for detail, and a positive, extroverted personality. Prior kitchen experience is a considerable advantage but not mandatory; enthusiasm for learning and culinary passion are highly valued. This position requires physical stamina, such as the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and maintain a professional appearance with a clean uniform. Safety training and certification will be required before commencement of employment.

Joining Sheraton New Orleans means becoming part of a global community committed to creating meaningful guest experiences through outstanding service and hospitality excellence. The hotel actively promotes equal opportunity employment and values the diversity of its workforce, making it a welcoming place for everyone.
