This job opportunity is for a Cook position within the Nutrition and Food Services department at the Main Dining Room located on the Yale Campus of Saint Francis Health System. This full-time role primarily involves day shifts with variable days and includes working rotating weekends to support continuous nutritional service. The cook plays a vital role in preparing nutritious and appetizing meals for patients, staff, and visitors by strictly adhering to standardized recipes and production methods. Utilizing conventional food production equipment, the cook ensures that all food preparation complies with stringent sanitation and food safety standards based on the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality food items while minimizing waste and maintaining required food temperatures during preparation and service. This position demands the ability to follow complex recipes accurately, prioritize workflow, and communicate effectively within a healthcare setting. The cook is expected to greet customers politely, take orders efficiently, and contribute to an organized and hygienic work area. The role requires maintaining compliance with annual safety and infection control protocols to safeguard the well-being of patients and staff.

While this role does not require prior work experience, a high school diploma or GED is preferred alongside possession of a valid Oklahoma Food Handler's permit, evidencing the candidate's knowledge of safe food handling practices. Working directly with patients and healthcare professionals, the cook must exercise independent judgment in managing cooking operations and minor decision-making. As a safety-sensitive position under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act (OMMA), candidates should be aware of the implications related to workplace safety and drug testing policies.

This comprehensive description outlines the fundamental duties and expectations for the cook role at Saint Francis Health System while emphasizing the critical importance of hygiene, nutrition, and customer service within a bustling hospital dining environment.
