Job Description

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Evening Cook to join our dedicated team. This role entails working from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., including every other weekend rotation. As a Cook at Milford Health & Rehabilitation, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by preparing and serving appetizing, nutritious meals tailored to meet their individual dietary needs and preferences. Your culinary expertise will directly contribute to creating a positive dining experience that is both enjoyable and healthful. The position requires adherence to strict food safety standards along with close collaboration with dietary staff to ensure all menus cater appropriately to special dietary requirements. You will be responsible for the preparation and cooking of flavorful meals following prescribed menus, ensuring high-quality food presentation, proper portion control, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the kitchen and food storage areas.

In this role, you will also manage the ordering and inventory of food supplies and kitchen equipment to guarantee seamless kitchen operations. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • safe knife handling skills
  • experience operating commercial slicers, ovens, grills, large blenders, etc.
  • ability to follow instructions for the safe use, cleaning and care of dietary equipment, preparation and service areas
  • compassionate and empathetic nature
  • ability to work effectively in a team environment
