The role available is for a full-time evening cook, with working hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. including every other weekend rotation. This position is critical to ensuring the dining experiences of residents meet both their dietary needs and preferences. As a cook at Milford Health & Rehabilitation, you will be a key part of the team responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, flavorful meals that contribute to the overall quality of life of the residents. This role blends culinary skills with a compassionate approach to care, emphasizing the importance of food safety, dietary adherence, and collaboration with dietary staff and healthcare professionals. As a cook, you will not only prepare meals according to strict dietary requirements, but also ensure presentation quality and portion accuracy, maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation, manage inventory and supply orders, and comply with all food safety regulations. Your contribution will help create a positive dining environment that supports the health and satisfaction of each resident. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Safe knife handling skills
  • Experience operating commercial slicers, ovens, grills, large blenders, etc.
  • Ability to follow instructions for the safe use, cleaning and care of dietary equipment, preparation and service areas
  • Compassionate and empathetic nature
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
