Job Description

CHC is a well-established non-profit social service agency located in the Akron area, dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by the disease of addiction. Since its founding in 1974, CHC has played a vital role in Ohio's efforts to treat and prevent substance use disorders by providing comprehensive treatment programs and community-based services. The organization’s mission is to treat, inspire, support, and empower those impacted by addiction, offering hope and pathways to recovery with compassion and professionalism.

This organization is deeply committed to creating a nurturing and supportive environment for its clients while also fostering a positive work environment for its staff. CHC values integrity, dedication, and a collaborative spirit which has established it as a critical resource in the community. As part of this commitment, CHC is seeking a Full-Time Cook to join its Food Services team across its Residential Facilities. This role is essential in ensuring that clients and staff receive nutritious, well-prepared meals as part of their daily care and treatment plans.

The Full-Time Cook position offers a consistent schedule with hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, along with one weekend per month from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. The schedule includes days off during the week and incorporates rotating weekends and holidays, providing a balance between work and personal life. This role is well-suited for individuals who are passionate about food preparation and nutrition and want to contribute to an organization making a meaningful impact on people’s lives.

The cook's responsibilities are diverse and include not only meal preparation and cooking but also inventory management, cleaning, and compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. Additionally, this position involves using a company vehicle to deliver meals and pick up supplies from the Food Bank, highlighting the role's importance in operational logistics. The cook will play a key part in maintaining the quality and safety of food service, critical for the health and well-being of residents receiving treatment.

This role requires physical stamina and dexterity, including standing or walking for long periods and able to lift up to 30 pounds safely. While having ServSafe certification is preferred, CHC is willing to provide this training after the probationary period. The ideal candidate must possess a valid driver's license and successfully pass a background check and drug test, ensuring the safety and reliability standards of the organization are met.

Joining CHC means becoming part of a supportive team that appreciates the hard work and dedication of its employees. The organization offers a range of benefits including a free meal during shifts, medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees working 30 or more hours weekly, and 32 paid days off annually covering holidays, vacation, personal, and sick days. Additional rewards include referral bonuses, a 403b retirement plan with company matching after one year, professional licensure fee reimbursement, company-sponsored training opportunities, and access to an Employee Assistance Program that provides resources for health management, family support, and financial advice.

CHC Addiction Services is committed to equal employment opportunity and is an inclusive employer that values diversity. The full-time cook role is an exciting opportunity for those looking to contribute their culinary skills within a meaningful social service setting, helping to provide nourishment and comfort to individuals on their recovery journeys.
