We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our culinary team. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to hone your culinary skills while working in a fast-paced and dynamic hospitality environment. The role involves preparing and cooking all orders promptly and efficiently as directed by business volume and supervisory staff, with a focus on delivering the highest quality products to our customers. The successful candidate will prepare food items for lunch, manage the transition from breakfast to lunch service, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of their workstation. Additionally, the cook will learn and execute menu items, recipes, and preparation standards, ensuring all food is stored correctly and that only the necessary quantity is prepared to maintain freshness throughout the day.

The position also requires preparing food for other kitchen departments when necessary and assisting in preparations for the next shift or day under the supervision of the kitchen manager. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, use fine and gross motor skills frequently, and possess the visual and auditory capacity to perform cooking duties safely. Attention to detail, excellent time management, and the ability to follow standardized food preparation techniques are essential to succeed in this role. Candidates with at least a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of three months’ experience in a full-service restaurant or hotel kitchen, and a valid Food Safety Certification will find this opportunity rewarding and aligned with their vocation in the culinary arts.

Job Duties

  • Open up each morning preparing and organizing the station and cooking all food necessary to start serving
  • Prepare all items for lunch including sauces, soups, buffet entrees, and switch over from breakfast to lunch at the assigned time
  • Rearrange the line and steam table to facilitate luncheon cooking and service
  • Prepare all orders as turned in by wait staff and ensure all orders are cooked quickly and according to order
  • Learn menus, recipes, preparation, and presentation
  • Ensure that all food is stored in proper containers and at proper storage and holding temperatures
  • Cook only sufficient food in advance to cover expected business volume and to maintain quality
  • Prepare all food needed by other kitchen departments which is best prepared by this department
  • Prepare all food for next shift and for the following day as required and directed by Supervisor
  • Maintain the work area including all countertops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration in a clean and sanitary condition in accordance with health and safety regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
