The role of the Cook at Dimension Hospitality is crucial for the successful execution of day-to-day culinary operations. This position demands a highly organized and efficient individual capable of producing all required food orders at the highest quality while adapting to the volume of business and specific directives from supervisors. The cook will be responsible for preparing meals on an a la carte basis, as well as prepping food items for buffets, banquets, salad bars, and hors d'oeuvres, ensuring versatility within the kitchen environment. Opening shifts require preparation and organization of the cooking station to start service promptly and to manage the transition between meal services, such as switching from breakfast to lunch. This involves cooking soups, sauces, buffet entrees, and other lunch items aligned with scheduled timings.
The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in food preparation techniques, the usage of appropriate kitchen tools and machines, and adherence to precise measurement and recipe guidelines. The role also involves maintaining sanitary working conditions, managing food storage according to safety standards, and collaborating effectively with other kitchen departments to prepare food as necessary. Physical demands include the frequent lifting of supplies and continuous use of fine and gross motor skills. This position requires a minimum of three months of cooking experience in a full-service restaurant or hotel, along with a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant food safety certifications. Job Duties
- open up each morning preparing and organizing the station and cooking all food necessary to start serving
- prepare all items for lunch including sauces, soups, buffet entrees, and switch over from breakfast to lunch at the assigned time
- rearrange the line and steam table to facilitate luncheon cooking and service
- prepare all orders as turned in by wait staff and ensure all orders cooked quickly and according to order
- learn menus, recipes, preparation, and presentation
- ensure that all food is stored in proper containers and at proper storage and holding temperatures
- cook only sufficient food in advance to cover expected business volume and to maintain quality
