Job Description
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc., founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, stands as the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States. Known widely for its flagship brand, Panda Express, the company has expanded to nearly 2,800 locations worldwide, embodying a mission centered around delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences. With a deep-rooted commitment to family values and community impact, Panda Restaurant Group focuses on inspiring its team members to better their lives while fostering environments that emphasize inclusivity, respect, and professional growth.
Joining the Panda team as a Cook means stepping into a pivotal role within a dynamic and fast-paced kitchen environment. As a central figure in the kitchen, the Panda Cook is responsible not only for preparing delicious dishes that adhere strictly to company recipes and standards but also for creating a warm, vibrant ambiance for guests. This role demands passion for food, dedication to quality service, and pride in contributing to the overall dining experience. Moreover, Cooks often serve as leaders for their kitchen teams, playing an instrumental role in guiding and assisting with employee training, ensuring operational excellence across back-of-house functions.
The Cook position at Panda Restaurant Group is more than a typical kitchen role; it is an opportunity to immerse oneself in a culture that values its people as the heart of success. Candidates can look forward to being part of an environment that encourages growth, teamwork, and continuous learning. This role includes performing a full range of back-of-house responsibilities in a lively kitchen balancing speed and quality, often under demanding conditions such as hot, noisy, and space-constrained workspaces. Associates are expected to possess strong communication and conflict management skills and adapt readily to shifting priorities while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
Alongside professional responsibilities, Panda offers a suite of employee benefits aimed at supporting the health, well-being, and career development of its team members. These include competitive pay, flexible schedules, free meals during shifts, and comprehensive insurance plans for full-time associates, covering medical, vision, dental, and voluntary protections like short-term disability and cancer income protection. Retirement benefits, including a 401K plan with company match, further underscore Panda’s commitment to its employees’ futures. The company also provides paid training to prepare staff thoroughly for their roles, access to leadership development programs, and opportunities for career advancement into management positions.
Through its strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, Panda Restaurant Group acknowledges the importance of providing equal employment opportunity to all applicants and employees, recognizing diverse backgrounds and perspectives as vital to its continued success. The company adheres strictly to federal, state, and local laws regarding workplace accommodation, ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive reasonable adjustments to participate fully in the application and employment process.
For those seeking a rewarding career in the food service industry, Panda Restaurant Group’s Cook position represents a vibrant, supportive career path within a stable and growing company known for its leadership in the casual dining sector. Whether contributing directly in the kitchen or engaging with the broader team to foster a welcoming environment, Panda Cooks help shape memorable dining experiences that keep guests coming back.
