We are currently seeking a full-time Cook to join our team at The Summit of Fort Myers. This role requires weekend availability and flexibility, but importantly, it does not include late-night shifts, making it an attractive opportunity for those seeking a balanced work schedule. The position offers a competitive wage of $20.00 per hour along with a comprehensive benefits package. The Cook’s primary responsibility at The Summit of Fort Myers is to prepare and serve wholesome, nutritious, and appealing food at the appropriate temperatures. Reporting to the Dining Services Director, the Cook plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality and consistency of culinary offerings within the community. This position demands attention to detail, adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations, and a commitment to minimizing waste and controlling costs. The daily duties include preparing menu items using high-quality ingredients, monitoring food temperatures and storage conditions, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and collaborating as a team member to ensure efficient kitchen operations. Additionally, the Cook supports resident activities and participates in associate meetings and projects as needed, contributing to the vibrant community life at The Summit.

Ideal candidates for this role will bring at least two years of cooking experience, preferably in healthcare or hospitality settings, and possess a High School Diploma or GED. Serv-Safe Certification is preferred but not mandatory. Physical requirements for this role include the ability to communicate effectively, perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 40 pounds, standing, bending, and walking for extended periods. A professional appearance, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to relate courteously and diplomatically with residents and staff are essential. Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve all food items using high quality ingredients and appropriate garnishes
  • use recipes and correct portion sizes to provide a consistent product while controlling costs
  • record and monitor food temperatures during storage, preparation, cooking, and serving
  • label, date, and properly store all foods
  • monitor and record temperatures of all kitchen refrigerators and freezers daily
  • control overproduction and waste of all food items
  • comply with all state and local rules and regulations for a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen
