At Smashburger, the Cook position is vital to delivering the exceptional product quality and customer satisfaction the brand promises. Reporting to the Restaurant General Manager, the Cook plays a crucial role in preparing menu items by strictly following Smashburger’s recipes and preparation standards to ensure consistency and excellence in every order. As a Cook, candidates will become menu experts responsible for reading, preparing, and cooking food orders accurately and efficiently while minimizing waste. The role demands effective teamwork and communication with guest service experts and managers within a fast-paced and busy restaurant environment. Additionally, cooks take pride in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, operating large cooking equipment, and adhering to safety protocols and company-approved cleaning procedures. Job Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, move, reach, grasp and lift boxes of food or supplies up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to kneel, bend, twist, stoop and work in high temperature conditions
  • Must show up on time for variable hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Follow Smashburger uniform standards
  • Ability to follow all company guidelines and federal, state, and local regulations
  • Must be able to produce authorized U.S. work documents
  • Completion of Smashburger training program

Job Qualifications

  • No prior experience necessary, completion of Smashburger training program
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety guidelines
  • Basic understanding of kitchen equipment and food preparation processes

Job Duties

  • Be a menu expert, follow Smashburger's prep and menu recipe standards to prepare guest orders
  • Read, prepare and cook food orders to specifications to ensure guest satisfaction and minimize waste
  • Work as a team player with effective communication with Guest Service Experts and managers in a busy environment
  • Ensure all food items are rung in prior to preparing orders and be flexible to verbal instructions
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, equipment and counters using company approved cleaning products
  • Operate large cooking equipment such as grills and deep fryers and use knives and slicing equipment with proper PPE
  • Follow checklists and systems to set up, stock and close the kitchen
  • Learn new recipes and procedures to support marketing promotions
  • Assist Guest Service Experts in managing dining room cleanliness and efficient food delivery
  • Follow all personal and food safety and security standards to foster a safe work environment
