Job Description

Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. is the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, founded in 1983 in Glendale, California. With nearly 2,800 locations worldwide, Panda is dedicated to providing exceptional Asian dining experiences while fostering a company culture rooted in family values and community. The organization places high importance on building a workplace that inspires its employees to improve their lives and the lives of those around them. Known for their commitment to quality food and excellent customer service, Panda aims to create a vibrant atmosphere that guests enjoy and employees take pride in being part of. The company is an equal opportunity employer and embraces diversity, ensuring a welcoming environment for all team members regardless of background or personal characteristics. Panda provides reasonable accommodations throughout the hiring process and employment to support individuals with disabilities.

The role of a Panda Cook is a central position within this dynamic and fast-paced environment. Cooks are crucial leaders in the kitchen and embody the heart of the culinary team. This position offers the opportunity to work in a growth-oriented atmosphere that values passion, service, and pride in food preparation. As a Panda Cook, your responsibilities include supporting the creation of a lively and welcoming environment for guests, making all menu items according to company recipes and standards, guiding kitchen team members, assisting in their training, and fulfilling all back-of-house duties necessary to keep the kitchen running efficiently. The role demands working quickly and accurately, often under hot and noisy conditions while managing physical requirements such as standing for long hours, lifting up to 50 pounds, and using specialized kitchen equipment like Chinese cook knives.

Candidates are expected to have at least some high school education and preferably some operations experience. Food safety knowledge is vital, and acquiring local or municipal certifications like Food Handler certification at the applicant's own expense is required. Panda offers flexible schedules, competitive pay, and numerous benefits including medical, vision, and dental insurance for full-time associates, 401K with company match, paid time off including vacation, sick and bereavement leave, and more. The company also supports career growth through hands-on paid training and ongoing leadership development opportunities. Working at Panda means more than just preparing food; it is about being part of a team that genuinely cares about its employees and communities, fostering a supportive workplace where personal and professional growth are encouraged.
