Job Description

This position is with a residential program dedicated to supporting women with children in Everett. The program maintains a calm and nurturing environment in a commercial kitchen where meals are prepared for 30 adults and up to 15 infants and preschoolers. Rather than a fast-paced restaurant setting, this kitchen emphasizes a quieter, more personal approach to meal preparation where the cook interacts closely with the residents, who appreciate homemade meals and treats such as cookies. The role requires preparing three family-style meals every day, including casseroles, soups, sandwiches, salads, and meats for lunch and dinner, alongside hot breakfasts on most days. The kitchen celebrates holidays with traditional meals and an inviting atmosphere enjoyed by residents and their extended families. Meal planning is done with input from a nutritionist to accommodate special dietary needs, ensuring all meals are nutritious and suitable for everyone in the program. The Food Services Coordinator provides training on procedures, meal planning, and ordering, but the culinary team operates with a high level of independence. The atmosphere is supportive rather than hectic, making it a unique culinary role that combines cooking skills with a community-centered approach and a commitment to helping women and children. This full-time role consists of four 10-hour shifts and offers a stable, rewarding environment for those passionate about cooking and community service. The position also includes benefits such as health, dental, and vision insurance, disability insurance, and paid time off, offering a comprehensive employment package that supports the well-being of the employee as much as the residents they serve.
