Job Description

Sodexo is a global leader in integrated food services and facilities management, dedicated to enhancing quality of life and contributing to the well-being of the clients and communities it serves. Operating worldwide, Sodexo partners with various clients—including educational institutions, corporate entities, healthcare facilities, and more—to deliver exceptional food service, catering, and facilities management solutions. At Sodexo, the focus rests not just on providing services but creating meaningful experiences for both customers and employees. The company firmly believes in fostering an inclusive, culturally diverse work environment where every employee is respected, valued, and empowered to be themselves. Sodexo embraces its core values of culture, belonging, and respect, ensuring a supportive atmosphere where ideas and opinions are heard and contribute to a stronger team dynamic.

Specifically, the Sodexo team at Union Adventist University is currently seeking a full-time Cook. This role is vital in maintaining the highest culinary standards and operational excellence within a fast-paced educational dining environment. The position offers a competitive pay range of $17.50 to $20.50 per hour and requires flexibility to work varying shifts including days and hours with open availability preferred. As a Cook, you will be engaged in preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting an array of hot and cold food items across all meal periods and special events, adhering strictly to Sodexo's culinary standards for quality, presentation, and consistency.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced kitchen setting, ensuring food safety and sanitation compliance at all times. They will be responsible for accurately following recipes, managing production planning, and maintaining an organized and clean workstation. This role not only demands culinary skill but also dedication to exceptional customer service, teamwork, and upholding the company’s commitment to excellent dining experiences for students and university staff alike.

Because Sodexo operates contracts across various sectors, duties may vary by location and client requirements. Thus, some additional responsibilities may be assigned to meet specific business needs. Applicants should be prepared for physical demands such as standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and performing repetitive motions consistently throughout their shifts. Sodexo also encourages individuals enrolled as students, particularly international students with hour restrictions, to seek student worker positions more suited to their availability.

Joining Sodexo means becoming part of a company that invests in its people offering comprehensive training, career development, and numerous employee benefits designed to support both personal and professional growth. Benefits include paid time off, medical insurance, dental and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, 401(k) options, discount programs, and site-specific offerings such as free meals, uniforms, safety shoes, and transportation support. Sodexo fosters a flexible and supportive workplace, enabling employees to balance their professional duties while being home for life’s important moments.

Overall, Sodexo strives to create a better everyday experience for its employees and clients, emphasizing quality, safety, inclusivity, and respect throughout its operations worldwide.
