The University of Texas at Austin location is currently seeking a full-time Cook to join their kitchen team, with weekday morning shifts and a competitive pay range of $17.25 to $21.00 per hour. This role is pivotal in supporting Sodexo's mission by preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold dishes in line with the highest culinary standards. Working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, the Cook I ensures food safety, quality, and consistency while maintaining a clean and organized workstation. Attention to detail, teamwork, and adherence to food handling regulations are essential aspects of this position.
As a Cook at Sodexo, you will engage in multiple culinary tasks that go beyond basic food preparation. You will follow recipes and product instructions to season and cook a range of items including soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts, guaranteeing that every meal served meets Sodexo's stringent quality criteria. Your role will also involve tasting products, reading menus, estimating food requirements, and maintaining accurate production records to meet service demands efficiently. Physical stamina is key, as you will be walking or standing for extended periods, lifting weights, and performing repetitive motions in a high-energy kitchen setting.

- 0 to 2 years of related work experience
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Good working knowledge of food preparation
- Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment
- Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised

Job Duties
- Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided
- Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments
- Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
- Significant walking or other means of mobility
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, throughout the entire duration of a shift, which may exceed 8 hours
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive motions
- Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
- Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements
