Job Description
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. is a renowned and family-owned American Chinese Restaurant concept that was founded in Glendale, California in 1983. Today, it is the largest family-owned Asian dining brand in the United States, with nearly 2,800 locations worldwide. Panda Restaurant Group is dedicated to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences to its customers while fostering a workplace environment where people are inspired to improve their lives. Known for its rich heritage of family values, Panda prides itself on embracing a culture of inclusion, diversity, and respect for all its team members and communities it serves.
As a Cook at Panda, you will be an integral part of a passionate and dedicated team that values leadership, hard work, and pride in creating quality food. This role places you at the heart of the kitchen, where your primary responsibility is to prepare delicious dishes that meet established company recipes and standards. Beyond food preparation, you play a critical role in creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for guests, helping to make each dining experience memorable. Your passion and attention to detail will contribute significantly to the restaurant's ambiance and overall customer satisfaction.
In addition to cooking, you will support and guide the kitchen team by assisting with their training and ensuring all back-of-house responsibilities are effectively managed. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented restaurant environment where teamwork and customer service are highly valued. The position reports to management and requires the ability to handle high-demand situations with accuracy, speed, and positivity.
Panda strongly supports the growth and development of its employees, offering on-going career and leadership development opportunities and the potential to progress to management roles. This role also includes hands-on paid training designed to equip you with the skills to succeed, ensuring you are well-prepared to meet the standards of Panda Restaurant Group.
The physical demands of the role include standing for long periods, working in a hot kitchen environment, lifting up to 50 pounds, and using kitchen equipment such as Chinese cook knives. Effective verbal communication and the ability to adapt to changing priorities are essential, as is the capacity to handle conflicts or difficult situations professionally.
Panda offers competitive pay ranging from $19 to $22 per hour, with actual pay determined based on multiple factors including location and experience. The company provides a comprehensive benefits package for full-time associates, including medical, vision, dental insurance, and voluntary short-term disability. Additional benefits include flexible scheduling, free meals while working, 401K with company match, vacation and sick leave, associate discounts, referral bonuses, and opportunities to give back to the community.
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. is committed to equal employment opportunity and embraces diversity in all aspects of employment. The company complies fully with federal, state, and local laws regarding workplace accommodations, ensuring all candidates and employees have the necessary support to perform their roles effectively. This inclusive approach makes Panda a welcoming place to work for individuals from all backgrounds, reflecting the company’s core values of respect and family orientation.
