The position available at Cogir Senior Living is for a Cook within one of their community restaurants. This role is integral to daily operations, as the cook is responsible for preparing fresh, nutritious, and appetizing meals for residents, staff, prospective residents, families, and guests. The cook will work closely with the culinary director and the dining services team to develop and execute diverse menus that range from traditional comfort foods to unique culinary experiences inspired by global cuisines. Additionally, the menu is seasonally refreshed quarterly, incorporating fresh and locally sourced ingredients, which highlights the company’s appreciation for quality and variety in its food offerings. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • food handler card
  • at least one year of experience working in a full-service kitchen
  • knowledge of kitchen sanitation and food safety standards
  • ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
  • capability to handle kitchen tools and equipment safely
  • strong attention to detail
  • excellent communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • culinary school is a plus or equivalent experience
  • food handler card with knowledge of kitchen sanitation and food codes
  • at least one year of experience in full-service kitchen settings
  • knowledge of kitchen equipment and knife handling skills
  • ability to read and execute recipes
  • proficiency in preparing a variety of meals including large-batch cooking
  • previous experience in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality highly desirable

Job Duties

  • be a part of a compassionate and high-performing team to redefine senior living and deliver top-level results
  • prepare and cook meals following established menus, recipes, dietary, and sanitary guidelines
  • set up and break down work areas in a timely fashion
  • keep all stations clean and sanitized
  • collaborate with the dining services team to ensure timely meal service
  • check and restock all foods for proper service
  • adhere to local, state, and federal health and safety regulations
