This position demands attention to food safety, hygiene, and quality standards, aligning with industry benchmarks and state regulations. The Kitchen Cook's responsibilities also extend to maintaining cleanliness and order in the kitchen, managing inventory by rotating produce, and consolidating items in the walk-in cooler. Furthermore, the Kitchen Cook is expected to demonstrate flexibility by substituting in other kitchen areas when necessary and participating in ongoing training and seminars to keep skills and knowledge current. In the absence of the Chef, the Kitchen Cook assumes full charge of kitchen operations, including vendor ordering and managing kitchen staff discipline, highlighting the trust and responsibility associated with this role. Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Prior on-the-job training and two years equivalent experience required
  • Ability to read, write and follow directions
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, pull carts and lift at least 30 pounds easily
  • Must be able to climb stairs and operate proper equipment needed to clean
  • Must be able to read and write in order to use schedule properly

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Prior on-the-job training and two years equivalent experience required
  • Ability to read, write and follow directions

Job Duties

  • Prepare hot and cold food items for residents based on recipes provided
  • Have knowledge about food safety standards
  • Keep a clean, sanitary work area daily according to industry standards
  • Consolidate and rotate produce in walk-in cooler daily
  • Assess need and order accurately from vendors any food and produce needed for daily menu
  • Become proficient and knowledgeable with task sheets
  • Oversee sanitation of kitchen line breakdown and clean up
  • Maintain clean and sanitary conditions and cleaning schedules according to state regulations and manufacturer protocols
  • Attend required in-services or seminars as needed
  • Substitute in other area kitchens and perform duties as needed
  • Retain knowledge of Trezevant Manor's mission, vision and values
  • Report to work on time, as scheduled and outlined in the employee handbook
