Job Description

The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for military service members, their families, retired military personnel, and civilian employees. MWR offers a variety of programs that include fitness, recreation, lodging, as well as food and beverage services. These programs are designed to support and improve the overall morale and welfare of the military community. The focus is on providing a supportive, engaging environment that encourages healthy, active lifestyles and fosters a sense of community among all patrons.

Job Requirements

  • No minimum education requirement
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions
  • Experience with kitchen equipment operation
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • Ability to perform multi-step tasks accurately
  • Basic arithmetic skills
  • Capacity to maintain focus under distractions
  • Experience with point of sale systems

Job Qualifications

  • Must be able to follow recipes and combine ingredients for plain or fancy salad and other cooked dishes
  • Skill to perform tasks with several steps and use judgment in the performance of sequential tasks
  • Concentration is required to serve uniform individual portions and to avoid distractions
  • Simple arithmetic skills and the ability to read instructions
  • Working knowledge of common sanitation procedures to prevent contamination
  • Able to use simple kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Knowledge of operation of bake, holding ovens and pizza makers
  • Ability to relate inventory levels to purchasing requirements
  • Understanding of food storage and sanitation requirements
  • Ability to operate a cash register and point of sale system

Job Duties

  • Follow recipes and combine ingredients for salads, pizzas, and other menu items
  • Perform sequential kitchen tasks using judgment
  • Serve uniform individual portions while maintaining concentration
  • Use simple arithmetic and read instructions accurately
  • Apply sanitation procedures to prevent food contamination
  • Operate kitchen equipment including bake and holding ovens and pizza makers
