Job Description

The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for military service members, their families, retired military personnel, and civilian employees. MWR offers a variety of programs that include fitness, recreation, lodging, as well as food and beverage services. These programs are designed to support and improve the overall morale and welfare of the military community. The focus is on providing a supportive, engaging environment that encourages healthy, active lifestyles and fosters a sense of community among all patrons.

This specific position is within the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Food and Beverage sector, operating under Fleet Readiness at Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) and is stationed at Naval Station Everett in the Food and Beverage All American unit. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that quality food and beverage services align with the high standards expected by the military community and contribute significantly to their comfort and satisfaction.

The role primarily involves preparing a variety of dishes including salads, pizzas, and other cooked menu items by following established recipes. Candidates must possess the ability to perform multiple sequential kitchen tasks with sound judgment, maintain concentration despite distractions, and execute simple arithmetic calculations while reading instructions. Additionally, maintaining hygiene standards through proper sanitation procedures and safely handling food storage are key components of this position. The individual will also be responsible for operating kitchen equipment such as ovens and pizza makers, as well as managing cash register operations within point of sale systems.

Working knowledge of inventory control related to purchasing requirements is essential, ensuring that food supplies are adequately monitored and maintained to meet daily operational needs. The ability to cooperate with team members and follow detailed instructions precisely ensures that both the quality and efficiency of food service delivery meet the expectations of the organization.

This position does not require a minimum educational background, highlighting an inclusive approach to hiring that values practical skills and experience in food service and kitchen operations. The employment type is categorized as OTHER, indicating a non-standard employment classification possibly related to the unique nature of the NAF operations and their funding.

Overall, this career opportunity offers a fulfilling chance to contribute to the military community by supporting one of the critical quality-of-life programs offered through MWR. It also allows individuals to apply their culinary and customer service skills in a dynamic and structured environment with a mission-driven focus.
