The role of Cook at Sodexo, specifically located at P&G in Browns Summit, offers a full-time employment opportunity with a competitive pay rate of $18 per hour. The work schedule includes morning and afternoon/evening shifts with varying days, as well as some weekends and holidays, ensuring a dynamic and engaging work environment. This role is integral to maintaining Sodexo's renowned culinary standards, focusing on preparation, cooking, and presentation of a variety of hot and cold food items across all meal periods and special events. Working in a fast-paced kitchen setting, the Cook supports the overall goal of delivering an exceptional dining experience by upholding quality, consistency, and food safety.

In this position, the Cook is responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing food items according to Sodexo's culinary guidelines, ensuring all dishes meet high standards of taste and presentation. The Cook will follow recipes and product directions to prepare, season, cook, taste, and serve a diverse range of food including soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts. Attention to detail is crucial as the role includes estimating food requirements, keeping production records, and requisitioning supplies and equipment as needed. Physical demands such as extended periods of standing or walking, as well as lifting and moving ingredients and equipment, are part of the daily responsibilities. The Cook must also maintain a clean and organized workstation, contributing to an efficient kitchen operation.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0 to 2 years of related culinary experience preferred
  • knowledge of basic kitchen equipment operation and food-handling procedures
  • ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • ability to stand or walk for extended periods
  • physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • ability to perform repetitive motions
  • punctuality and reliable attendance
