As a Cook at St. Joseph Health, you play a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors by preparing nutritious, safe, and high-quality meals. This position requires meticulous adherence to state and federal food preparation regulations specific to healthcare settings to ensure that all meals meet rigorous safety and quality standards. Your responsibilities include preparing and serving food that aligns with menu and dietary requirements, including multiple therapeutic diets tailored to specific health conditions and allergies. The ability to use a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, such as slicers, mixers, ovens, fryers, steamers, stove tops, and grills, is essential to execute recipes with precision.

The role demands a high degree of culinary excellence and the capacity to operate effectively within a fast-paced environment. Additionally, maintaining proper labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery is critical for compliance and operational efficiency. Sanitation and cleanliness within cooking and serving areas are also part of your daily duties, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment that aligns with healthcare foodservice standards.

This role is not only about food preparation but contributes directly to the overall patient care experience by providing meals that promote health, healing, and satisfaction. Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience in high-volume food preparation, a solid grasp of food safety regulations, and a thorough understanding of therapeutic diets. Certification such as a Food Handler Permit or ServSafe is required, underscoring the role’s emphasis on food safety and quality assurance within a healthcare culinary setting.
