The position available is for a Cook within the dietary department, reporting directly to the Sous Chef or Executive Sous Chef. This role is pivotal in ensuring the sanitary and safe preparation of all menu items, including entrees, vegetables, salads, and desserts, in accordance with dietary spreadsheets, production sheets, standardized recipes, portion control guidelines, and time schedules. The Cook plays a critical role in meal execution and presentation, adhering to dietary needs, including special and regular diets, to meet resident and patient preferences and nutritional requirements. This full-time on-site position demands attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work efficiently across various kitchen stations. The Cook must uphold the high standards of food quality and safety mandated by local, state, and federal regulations and has responsibilities in supervising and training newer kitchen staff members. By maintaining cleanliness, proper food handling practices, and inventory control, the Cook ensures smooth operations and satisfactory dining experiences for all customers served by Hebrew SeniorLife. Job Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred
- five years of cooking experience required
- ServSafe Certification required or obtained within six months of employment
Job Duties
- Responsible for production and presentation ensuring all food is cooked and prepped according to standards
- pull and thaw frozen foods according to schedule
- ensure all foods are held and served at proper temperatures and presented attractively
- complete daily product inventory for menu preparation
- delegate daily production requirements
- manage daily production goals
- coach and train employees on equipment use and cooking techniques
