The role of Cook at Sodexo within the HCA Florida Capital Hospital is integral to maintaining the high standards of culinary service that Sodexo promises. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
- 0 to 2 years of experience in a related field
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Good communication skills
- Must maintain punctuality and regular attendance
- Ability to perform repetitive motions
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
- 0 to 2 years of related work experience
- Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Good working knowledge of food preparation
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment
- Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised
Job Duties
- Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided
- Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments
- Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation throughout the shift
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards consistently
- Assist in inventory management and equipment maintenance as needed
- Support kitchen teamwork by communicating effectively and assisting colleagues as necessary
