Sodexo is a global leader in the provision of food services, facilities management, and integrated solutions, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for the individuals and communities it serves. With an extensive presence across various sectors including education, healthcare, and corporate environments, Sodexo offers comprehensive solutions designed to enrich daily experiences and foster sustainable development. The company operates with a clear mission to create a better everyday for everyone, reflecting its commitment to social, economic, and environmental progress through responsible business practices and community engagement. Sodexo’s core values emphasize respect, fairness, and inclusivity, making it a workplace that promotes diversity and ensures that all employees are treated with dignity and respect, allowing them to bring their authentic selves to work and contribute meaningfully to the organization’s success.

The Cook position at Sodexo, based at Loyola University New Orleans, presents a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced kitchen environment where quality and efficiency are paramount. This role is available as either full-time or part-time employment with a pay rate of $17.50 per hour. Candidates will be responsible for preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold food items to meet Sodexo’s high culinary standards for quality, consistency, and presentation. The position involves working varying shifts with open availability preferred, ensuring flexibility to meet the demands of the academic calendar and event schedules at the university.

In this role, the Cook will ensure that all food preparation processes are conducted safely and hygienically in compliance with federal, state, and corporate regulations. The cook will follow recipes and product directions while engaging in food preparation tasks that span multiple food categories, including soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts. The role also requires a strong capacity for teamwork, maintaining a clean and organized workstation, and contributing positively to the overall dining experience provided to customers at Loyola University.

Additional responsibilities include planning production requirements by reading menus, tasting products, estimating food needs, and keeping accurate records to requisition supplies and equipment efficiently. Physical demands of the job include the ability to stand or walk for extended periods, as shifts may exceed eight hours, and the capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally. The position may involve repetitive motions and other activities typical of kitchen operations.

Sodexo’s Cook role is not only about culinary skills but also about the commitment to uphold food safety and sanitation standards while working collaboratively to support a positive dining environment. The role encourages continuous development, offering opportunities for training and career advancement within the company, accompanied by a supportive work environment that values work-life balance. Potential candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent experience and up to two years of related work experience. Familiarity with kitchen equipment, basic food-handling procedures, and an ability to follow recipes and instructions independently are essential for success in this position.

This job offers a comprehensive benefits package to support the wellbeing of employees and their families, including paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, a 401(k) plan, discount programs, and other benefits that may vary by location. Sodexo stresses the importance of discussing any specific benefit questions during the interview process due to variations based on the work unit. The company fosters an inclusive workplace culture, actively promoting equal employment opportunities and ensuring that applicants from diverse backgrounds feel welcomed and valued.

Working with Sodexo means more than holding a job – it means being part of a purposeful company that values your contributions, encourages your growth, and understands the importance of having a flexible, supportive work environment that aligns with your personal and professional goals.
