Job Description
Out West Restaurant Group is the largest franchisee of Outback Steakhouse in the United States, proudly operating numerous locations that bring the unique Australian-themed dining experience to a wide array of customers. Outback Steakhouse, established in 1988, is recognized for its commitment to quality food, warm hospitality, and a fun dining atmosphere. At Outback, the culture is built around treating people "Just Right," fostering respect, camaraderie, and enthusiasm that reflects both in the employees, known as "Outbackers," and in the guest experience. Out West Restaurant Group is highly regarded in the industry, having received multiple awards including the International Franchise Association's Franchisee of the Year Award in 2022 for excellence in local community service. The organization also actively participates in meaningful community support programs such as California Care and CORE, which aid restaurant employees and their families during difficult times.
As a Cook at Out West, you will be joining a dynamic team where the role is central to the delivery of the premium dining experience that Outback customers expect and cherish. This position emphasizes speed, accuracy, and pride in every dish prepared, supporting an extensive and diverse menu. With a starting pay rate of $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, this role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build a rewarding career in the culinary industry while working in a supportive and engaging environment. While this role is not eligible for tips, it offers significant benefits and growth opportunities within one of the most reputable franchise groups in the country.
The cook's responsibilities are varied and vital, including preparing food items across multiple kitchen stations such as salad, fry, sauté, grill, and makeup lines, as well as kitchen prep. You will be expected to uphold the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation, ensuring every dish meets recipe and quality specifications. Teamwork is a core component of the role; you will collaborate closely with fellow Outbackers to maintain efficient kitchen operations and contribute positively to the restaurant's success. Being comfortable in a fast-paced environment, handling equipment responsibly, and keeping work areas clean and organized are all essential to thriving in this position.
Furthermore, Out West emphasizes employee well-being and offers a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance covering medical, dental, and vision care, paid time off including sick leave and public health emergency leave, and paid days off after 90 days of employment. Additionally, Out West is dedicated to providing a hospitable work culture that values leadership, perseverance, and hard work. Employees enjoy perks such as flexible scheduling, meal discounts, a company-sponsored Employee Assistance Program, and closed holidays on Thanksgiving and Christmas to spend quality time with family and friends.
Out West is committed to fairness and equal opportunity in its hiring practices, ensuring no discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status. As a Cook, you will be given training to reach your full potential with access to a Shift Leader program and possibilities for career advancement within the franchise. This role requires physical stamina and agility, with duties involving lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in varying temperature conditions. Applicants are supported through the application process, with accommodations available for individuals with disabilities. If you are passionate about food, enjoy working with a fantastic team, and want a career that offers fun, growth, and stability, joining Out West Restaurant Group as a Cook is an exceptional career choice.
