The role of a Cook at Village Inn - Walker Group is essential to the smooth operation and guest satisfaction at each location. The position centers on demonstrating a passion to serve by efficiently and safely preparing all prepped and menu items while rigorously following company procedures, recipes, and menu specifications. Cooks are responsible for ensuring each dish meets the highest standards of taste and presentation, completing a final plate check before service. Speed and accuracy are critical; cooks must prepare food orders within an eight-minute window from when the order is entered into the system, maintaining quality even during peak hours.
Cook team members keep the cook line clean and well-stocked throughout their shifts, utilizing proper tools such as scoops, ladles, and kitchen utensils to maintain food cost control. They uphold all food safety and health department guidelines, ensuring meticulous sanitation practices like washing and sanitizing cutting boards and countertops between tasks. Respectful communication is a cornerstone of the role, requiring courteous interaction with management, co-workers, and guests. Integrity in appearance and conduct is also expected, with employees adhering to company standards regarding grooming, security, and attire, including clean aprons, shirts, pants, and non-slip shoes.
Additional responsibilities include assisting management with proper food storage, understanding product shelf life and dating procedures, completing opening and closing duties, and supporting designated management officer (DMO) functions when requested.
