Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- six months of experience as a cook, assistant cook in hospital foodservice, restaurant, or institutional cooking
- or culinary school graduate
- certificate of completion of ANSI or Texas Department of State Health Services food handler training course or to be obtained within 60 days
- familiarity with variety of foods, seasonings, recipe procedures, and ingredient measurements
- proficient knowledge of the use and care of institutional kitchen equipment
- good customer service skills
- ability to read and follow recipe instructions and communicate effectively
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- six months of cooking experience or culinary school graduate
- certificate of completion of a food handler training course accredited by ANSI or Texas Department of State Health Services
- proficiency with institutional kitchen equipment
- knowledge of recipe procedures and ingredient measurements

- ability to read and follow recipes and communicate effectively
Job Duties
- Prepare recipes and menu items for patients, café customers, and catered events
- assemble recipes and follow production work sheets
- prepare required types and quantities of menu items
- follow correct work processes and kitchen flow
- read and follow recipes and production guides
- provide direction to assistant cooks and assigned personnel
- assure safe and sanitary operation of food production equipment
- serve as cook on café service lines with made to order entrees
- notify supervisors of customer service issues
- serve as emergency backup to kitchen staff
