Job Description

ASM Global is a worldwide leader in managing publicly owned assembly facilities, delivering premier venue management services and expertise. Operating Pinnacle Bank Arena, a state-of-the-art multi-purpose arena located in Lincoln, Nebraska, ASM Global focuses on providing exceptional entertainment and event experiences. The company prides itself on excellence in customer service, operational efficiency, and maintaining high standards in all aspects of venue management, including food and beverage services.

ASM Global is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook for their Food & Beverage department at Pinnacle Bank Arena. This part-time, hourly, non-exempt position reports directly to the Executive Chef and Sous Chef. The Cook plays a crucial role in supporting kitchen operations by maintaining impeccable food quality, presentation, and timing. Responsibilities include preparing meals by assembling, combining, and cooking ingredients following precise recipes while adhering to strict food safety and sanitation standards. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of various cooking techniques such as grilling, baking, and boiling, as well as familiarity with ingredient preparation like chopping, peeling, and cutting.

The Cook will work in a fast-paced environment that demands teamwork, careful attention to detail, and compliance with company policies, including dress code and safety regulations. Physical stamina is necessary as the role involves standing for long hours and handling moderate physical tasks such as lifting, pulling, and pushing. This opportunity is ideal for individuals with 1 to 3 years of experience in food service or restaurant settings who hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Culinary certification or a degree from a culinary school is preferred but not mandatory. Additionally, candidates must possess a Food Handlers Permit as per the Lincoln-Lancaster Health Department and are encouraged to obtain ServSafe Certification for further professional development. The successful candidate will demonstrate a basic understanding of food ingredients, the ability to read and execute recipes, and competence in maintaining kitchen cleanliness and safety.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Food Handlers Permit required in accordance with the Lincoln-Lancaster Health Department
  • 1-3 years food service or restaurant experience
  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Must adhere to ASM Global dress code including wearing black pants and non-slip soled closed toe shoes
  • Comply with safety regulations and procedures

Job Duties

  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods such as grilling, baking, and boiling
  • Prep ingredients for cooking including chopping, peeling vegetables, and cutting meats
  • Basic understanding of food ingredients
  • Ability to read and execute recipes accurately
  • Making precise measurements of ingredients
  • Ensure proper storage of food and items with receive dates
  • Proper handling of raw and prepared foods and non-food supplies
  • Testing food temperatures and maintaining proper cooking temperatures
  • Distribute and store clean pots, dishes, and utensils
  • Washing dishes and taking out trash
  • Adhering to ASM Global dress code including wearing black pants and non-slip soled closed toe shoes
  • Complying with safety regulations and procedures
